In April 2023, President Nelson issued a prophetic call for all of us to heal the world by becoming peacemakers, not only as individuals but “as a people.” His talk, Peacemakers Needed, lit a fire under us, and peacemaking has become a key priority in our work.
In this spirit, we’re excited to announce the launch of a new initiative called (appropriately enough) Peacemakers Needed. This new initiative will include videos, essays, and gatherings, as well as a dedicated newsletter.
Our vision is to build resilience in our faith community against political and cultural polarization, so that we can be shaped by our differences into people who act and speak with “the pure love of Christ.” We hope to do this by lifting up ideas, practices, and initiatives that anchor us in our common commitment to God and to each other, even in the midst of conflict and disagreement.
If this vision resonates with you, we invite you to subscribe below to receive the newsletter.
We also invite you to share your own ideas and experiences on peacemaking. Do you have something to say on the following (or related) issues? If so, please share with us.
Addressing (or not) political disagreement that arises at church
Encouraging ward unity amidst cultural, socioeconomic, political, racial, or ethnic divides
Building bridges between active and former members of the Church
Best practices for dialogue across difference
Creating engaging and welcoming gatherings online or in-person
Navigating the tensions and gifts of intergenerational relationships
Establishing interfaith relationships as a ward or stake leader
Conflict resolution skills for communities, families, and individuals
We look forward to learning and growing together as we strive to live more peaceably.
With gratitude,
Faith Matters

What a wonderful idea!
